As the 1 April 2010 deadline for responding to the Ministry of Finance public consultation on the Society Act approaches, a collaborative of leading BC not-for-profit organizations has released its collective response to the consultation. The collaborative's detailed and thoughtful response emphasizes the importance of moving ahead with the modernization of the Society Act, details some key reforms sought by leading lights in the not-for-profit sector, and provides some commentary on changes that the provincial government would be wise to avoid.
