This project involves a review of the Privacy Act of British Columbia, which makes the violation of privacy a tort. The Privacy Act was the first legislation to be passed in the British Commonwealth to give a right to sue for violation of privacy. The project is directed at updating and revising this statute in light of the many technological changes and evolution of social attitudes since it was passed in 1968. The project on the Privacy Act is funded by the Ministry of Attorney General of British Columbia.
