Registration for 2010 Canadian Conference on Elder Law Now Available

The Canadian Centre for Elder Law and the Law Commission of Ontario, with the support of the Advocacy Centre for the Elderly, invite you to attend the 5th Canadian (International) Conference on Elder Law.

The conference will bring together Canadian and international experts, academics, lawyers and advocates to promote and advance the discussion of elder law issues. The theme of this year's conference is "Developing an Anti-Ageist Approach to the Law". The conference will explore issues of elder rights, ageism and the law, access to justice, and law reform for older persons.

Selected confirmed speakers include:

  • Roger Smith, Director of JUSTICE, London, England
  • Justice Marcia Neave, Court of Appeal, Victoria, Australia
  • Magnus Eze, Communication and Advocacy Specialist, Nigerian Parliament
  • Dr. Jane Barratt, International Federation of Ageing
  • Barbara Hall, Chief Commissioner, Ontario Human Rights Commission
  • Sue Field, Fellow of the Public Trustee of New South Wales in Elder Law at the University of Western Sydney
  • Dr. Patricia Hughes, Executive Director, Law Commission of Ontario

The conference pre-day for the World Study Group on Elder Law will be held on October 28th, and will provide an opportunity for scholars in this area to present research updates and new work in this important field.

The conference will be held in the heart of downtown Toronto, close to shopping, sightseeing and nightlife.

Registration in the 2010 CCEL is now accredited with the Law Society of Saskatchewan (10 CPD hours) and with the Law Society of British Columbia (13 CPD hours).
