Child protection public consultation reaches its midway point
30 November 2020
By Kevin Zakreski
BCLI is halfway through a public consultation on specific reforms to the Child, Family and Community Service Act. The Child Protection Project Committee is seeking the public’s views on 38 tentative recommendations for reform. These tentative recommendations address selected aspects of the legislation: definitions and terms; disclosure; independent legal advice; court procedures and orders; selected protection issues; incorporating children’s views into child protection proceedings; and, legal representation for children in child protection proceedings.
The consultation remains open until 15 January 2021. For more information on the consultation and how to make a response, with links to the consultation paper, supporting material, and our survey, please visit the Modernizing the Child, Family and Community Service Act Project webpage.
