Overview

Aged care is one of the most heavily regulated industries in Australia. However, the protection afforded residents of aged care facilities is not extended to the aged care provider. The recent amendments to the Commonwealth Aged Care Act 1997 have further highlighted the divide between the responsibilities of aged care providers and those of the aged care recipients. This paper examines some of these topical contentious issues facing providers and consumers alike.
