BY British Columbia Law Institute

Help move the law forward this #GivingTuesday by supporting the BC Law Institute and the Canadian Centre for Elder Law. For over 25 years, the BCLI and CCEL have worked to ensure that laws in British Columbia reflect the needs of communities across the province. We engage in scholarly research and analysis of laws to determine pathways for law reform. We also conduct key research to create practical resources in a variety of areas, from supporting people living with dementia to reconciling crown legal frameworks.

We’re proud to have produced resources such as our Gender Diverse Legal Writing Guide that provides practical techniques for avoiding assumptions about gender in legal writing; our Undue Influence Recognition & Prevention Guide which contains recommended practices for legal practitioners to ensure wills and other documents represent the genuine independent wishes of their clients; our study paper on Pension Division, which answers questions about pension division upon the breakdown of a relationship; and our Practical Guide to Elder Abuse and Neglect Law in Canada which describes elder abuse and neglect law in every province and territory.

By making a gift to us, you demonstrate your own commitment to moving the law forward. Please consider supporting us at bcli.org/donate.
