British Columbia’s Ministry of Finance has launched a public consultation on reform of the Society Act“The purpose of the review,” as the ministry website explains it, “is to identify and address any legislative obstacles that may prevent societies from functioning fully and efficiently, and ensure that the public interest is being protected.” If you are concerned about reform of the Society Act, then this public consultation offers you a good opportunity to have your voice heard by the government.

In 2008, the BCLI published its own blueprint for reform of the Society Act in its Report on Proposals for a New Society ActTo find out more about the BCLI’s Society Act Reform Project, and to download a free copy of the report, please click here.
