BCLI / CCEL regrets the passing of its supporter, benefactor and friend, the Honourable Anne Rowles, on 13 November 2019. Madam Justice Rowles was a member of the British Columbia Court of Appeal from 1991 to 2011. She served more than 28 years on the Bench in total, having been first appointed to the County Court in 1983 and then to the Supreme Court in 1986 before her elevation to the Court of Appeal. In addition to her generous support of BCLI / CCEL and its activities, Madam Justice Rowles had a long association with the International Centre for Criminal Law Reform, serving on its Board and also as its Chair for several years. Her death is a loss to institutional law reform in British Columbia.
